My Jing Thank You!

One Last Tip, Request, & Thank You

Thanks to everyone who completed the short workshop evaluation. If you left before I reminded everyone and would still be willing to complete it. that would be great.

Also, I think I forgot to mention an important fact about Jing videos. They can only be 5 minutes long. So, as you record your video, remember to keep an eye on the timer (lower left corner of capture area) and wrap it up before you reach the 5 minute mark.

Many thanks to Kathie and Jessica Wallace, Academic Computing Services Manager, for all the hard work organizing and setting up the classroom. My lesson learned is to bring both types of headsets to test in advance.

Welcome to Jing and Screencast.com

Jing and Screencast.com are amazing (and FREE) resources for teachers. During this workshop you'll learn how to create effective screencasts and screen snapshots and share them using Screencast.com.

Agenda
  1. Brief Introductions
  2. Create your Screencast.com account. (see Handout page 2)
  3. Configure Jing to embed screencasts and screen snapshots. (see Handout pages 10 - 13)
  4. Discuss best practices for screencasts and screen snapshots. (see Handout page 5)
  5. Open a new Word document and new PowerPoint presentation.
  6. Make and enhance a screen snapshot of the Fences Desktop Organizer web site. (see Handout pages 5 - 7)
  7. Make a short screencast of the Brain Rules web site.(see Handout pages 7 - 9)
  8. Add a link and / or embed a Jing screencast and screen snapshot.
